My trip to Guatemala in April 2005 was for one week. After time in El Salvador I took a bus from San Salvador up to Guatemala City for one night. The next day I flew to Flores so I could go to Tikal. I flew back to Guatemala City and then headed to Antigua, a great Spanish Colonial Town. I used Antigua for a few days as a homebase staying in a backpacker hostel. From Antigua I visited Panajachel, Lago Atitlan, Chichicastanango, Volcan Pacay, and toured around Antigua. My last day and a half I went back to Guatemala City where I explored the historic central area and the archaelogy museum right next to the airport...a good way to spend "killing time at the airport".
