Hi all...what a 24 hours it has been. Yesterday afternoon i actually just relaxed in copacabana....i even took my first nap in south america! i watched the sunset, sat by the lake, relaxed, shopped. As the sunset, the town had a black out...there were no lights at all. Thank God i had a mini mag light with. i went into the market area...everything was lit by candle..it was kind of romantic in a way and i bought a few candles for my room. But alas, 3 hours later the lights went back on and i went and had a wonderful dinner with some live Bolivian music! The waiter was a 15 year old boy named Carlos who i chatted with fora while...very sad...he works full time at 15 and is going tos chool which he likes because he wants to study law someday. we can only hope. The poverty here amazes me...yet what the bolivians and peruvian lack in monetary...they definitely make up for in spirit, warmth and heart. Today...now that is another story....i woke up at 5 am....and had breakfast. I then caught the 8 am bus to La Paz...which was an experience and ajourney unto itself. The bus was so hot, crowded, chickens, goats, people all over and the road was the most steep winding road i had ever been on. AFter an 1 1-2 hours..you have to take a ferry accross the isthmus of the lake...the bus goes on one ferry and we get on another. you get back on the bus and then continue to la paz. it took 3 hours but i was so scared...one time i thought the bus was gonna tip over and everyone on the bus screamed. and there was no bathroom on the bus and i had to go bad!! Upon arrival to la paz, i became overwhelmed...i did not do any research or bring any books on la paz and when the bus dropped us off...i did not know where i was or where to go!!! The city of la paz is huge, fast paced, crowded, it is the busiest city i have been in my life (worse than mexico city) and it is too overwhelming for me. And it is a very dangerous city...so the sun is abou tot se and i am heading in for the night. i eventually fuond a place for the night....its not the best..but its a bed and shower. i then had to get money and then explored the city for a while which most interesting was the witches market which has llama fetus, potions, herb, talisman, etc. kind of freaky. now i am taking a break and then finish up shopping....i was going to go to a club tonight but i am too scared...so will just stay in and rest. I am leaving tomorrow back to peru and hopefully by monday will be in Cusco which will be nice because i will actually be in one place for 4 days! Happy Halloween everyone! Dont forget to change your clocks, and dont forget to vote tuesday!!
